Ornamental plants can be divided into nine groups : ground covers, climbers, shade trees, cut flowers, flowering plants, foliage plants, hedge plants, aquatic plants, and ceremonial plants.
Exploration to Indonesian conservation forests will add to KRI's collection. Then the ornamental collections, supported by the results of basic research, will be distributed to the society for landscape and breeding materials.
KRI will also document the species and usage of plants for ceremonial purposes, which is one of Indonesia's cultural riches.
