Thousands of native fruit species grow in Indonesian forests, but the number of species and varieties used by people is still limited. Meanwhile the populations of uncommon native fruits which are potentially economically important in the wild have been depleted. Inventory, selection, and study of valuable Indonesian fruit plants is therefore important.
