Botanical Name: Amorphophallus titanum

is the symbol of the Indonesian Botanic Gardens. This species is reknowned for the pungent odour of its flower which attracts flies for pollination hence the Bahasa Indonesia name "bunga bangkai" or "corpse flower". This species is often confused with the Rafflesia, the largest single flower in the world. Amorphophallus flowers are "compound", meaning that they are composed of many thousands of small flowers.
